Set up access to the Polaris Client
These instruction pertain only to those who use the Polaris client, not the web-based Leap, to perform their daily tasks. This access is limited to users in Admin and Tech Ops. If you need to log in to Leap, use this link: https://fairfax-leap.polarislibrary.com/leapwebapp
Before you get started
You'll need the following before you can set up access to the Polaris client:
1. A Terminal Server login, also known as a TS login. This is provided by Lib-IT staff.
2. The Fairfax_RemoteApp_NEW.wcx file - may be found in S:\TE
3. These instructions (also attached below as a word document.)
Set up the remote app
1. Download the Fairfax_RemoteApp_NEW.wcx file double-click to run. You'll see the following screen.
2.Click Next to set up the connection. Enter the TS login information provided to you, formatted as shown below.
Please note the following if you have issues entering your TS login:
Enter the domain as shown, with a backslash, not a forward slash (field #1).
Make sure there is a dash between the domain and your TS login with no spaces (field #1).
Passwords are case-sensitive (field #2).
3. Click OK. If your login is successful, you’ll get this screen a screen like this:
4. Hit Finish to continue.
5. Use the magnifying glass in the Windows taskbar to search for and select RemoteApp and Desktop Connections.
6. You should get the screen below. Select View Resources. Depending on your access level, you may have a different number of programs available to you.
7. You will see a similar set of icons to those shown below, based on your remote desktop access.
8. Right click the Polaris ILS (Production) Icon and select Send to Desktop for easy access.
9. To launch the Polaris client, double click the icon you sent to the desktop. You will see the screen below.
10. You will then see the Polaris login screen. The Username field will always be populated with your TS login. Overwrite this with your Windows userID and enter your Polaris password to log in.
