The library is currently quarantining returned materials for 72 hours -- this is why items you returned will remain on your account for a couple of days.

There is still a lot that is unknown about COVID-19 and how it spreads. No definitive information is currently available about the virus’s viability on books or other materials. Library Administration is closely monitoring the recommendations of experts from the CDC and Fairfax County Health Department, as well as the quarantine policies of other library systems. The Institute for Museum and Library Services has contracted with Battelle Labs to study COVID-19’s viability on library materials.  Results are expected mid-June and will further inform FCPL’s COVID-related policies.
