The library offers many eBooks and eAudiobooks. If you visit the Fairfax County Public Library website and then choose eBooks under the Find Books and More heading you will be directed to our eBook webpage. From there you can search for eBooks and eAudiobooks. Library eBooks and eAudiobooks are available for 21 days at a time and are automatically returned at the end of the lending period. Customers can have up to 10 eBook or eAudiobooks checked out at one time.
Depending on what type of device (Kindle, iPad, nook, laptop, etc) you want to use to read or listen to library eBooks or eAudiobooks, the directions for finding, downloading and transfering the eBooks will be different.
This list indicates which set of instructions will work for your specific device.
- OverDrive Mobile App (for Android phones, iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, Nook Color, and Nook tablets)
- Library eBooks for Kindle (for black and white Kindle eReaders)
- Library eBooks for Nooks (for black and white Nook eReaders)
You can find updated instructions for each of these at our Getting Started with Library eBooks site.
There are also eBook Workshops available at some of the Fairfax County Public Libraries where staff can walk you through the process if you bring your device with you to the library. If you visit the library's Events page and select eBook Workshops under the Ongoing Events heading you can see which libraries in your area offer these workshops. Alternatively you can call your local library for the same information.
OverDrive also offers support to library card holders. More information can be found at our Getting Started with Library eBooks site.
