Q

Is is possible to break out a search request by fiction or non-fiction? If so, how?

I did a search yesterday for Queen Elizabeth 1 and got over 100 hits. They included both fiction and non fiction. I was only interested in the non fiction but could not see how I could eliminate the fiction titles from my search.

Thanks.

Answer

You may easily limit your search to fiction or nonfiction.  If you would like to cull results for nonfiction titles about Elizabeth 1, you can perform a subject keyword search using the terms Elizabeth 1 not fiction.  If you wish to have a hit list that includes works of fiction about Elizabeth 1, you can execute a subject keyword search using the terms Elizabeth 1 and fiction.  If you wish to limit further by audience, you'll want to use the Advanced search option, use the same search strings I have suggested, but scroll down to audience and limit by ADULT, for instance, before rounding on the Search button.  Your results will exclude fiction and juvenile, as well as young adult titles.  And, you may limit further if you prefer audio books over print versions.  I trust this search advice will be very helpful.
